Is your email marketing giving you the results that you want?

2012 statistics show that 44% of email recipients made at least one purchase based on a promotional email. Additionally, consumers who buy products as a result of direct email marketing spend 138% more than people who don’t receive email offers.

This proves that email marketing online is still effective but how effective is your email marketing campaign? Here are some tips on how you can ensure that your email campaign will succeed.

  • Set clear, defined goals on what you hope to achieve with your email marketing campaign
As with any tasks, you need to set your goals first. All entrepreneurs want to increase sales but by how much and how long do you think you’ll achieve it? Do you intend to help improve your customers’ lifestyle with your product or service?
  • How do you intend to achieve your goals?
Now that you’ve set your goals, how will you achieve them? You need to remember this – sending emails to as many people as you can will not guarantee you increased sales.
  • Put the focus of your email campaign on your customer
Many people get turned off by campaigns that keep talking about the product or the seller. Focus on enumerating how your recipient will benefit from your product or service.
  • Personalise your email campaign
It’s easier to send bulk email but let’s face it, everybody wants to get an email that addresses them personally. Use their name. Check your list and consider how you will approach each customer. You can put in a personal message or you can lend a helping hand.
  • Sell your email in the subject line
The average person receives a minimum of 50 emails every single day so, there is a high possibility that your email will go to the trash bin. You need to capture the recipients’ attention with a great subject line so that they will open your email.
  • Keep it short
Most people will not take the time to read long emails. Keep it short and go straight to the point. Provide a link to your website if you want to give your potential customers more details of your product or service.
  • Add beautiful graphics or pictures
Just make sure you don’t put in too much. Some email programs can remove images and photos can make your email load slowly.
  • Many people don’t take the time to scroll down an email
Instant gratification is a common attitude among people today. Scrolling down an email is not an option to many. However, you can still get these people to read your email. Just put a table of contents of your headings on top and link the headings through to that section on the page.
  • Always include a call to action
The reason why your subscribers are on your list is because they want to know more about your business and your products. Invite them to take action.
  • Do not spam your recipients
Sending spam may result in losing customers. Worse, you will get fined because Australia has a strict anti-spam legislation.

Approximately 144.8 billion emails are sent every day. You need to use email marketing tools to ensure that your message will get noticed and opened by your recipients. Hopefully, these tools will help you increase sales.
