3 Tips Used By Successful People To Become Successful

“The difference between a successful person and others is not a lack of strength, not a lack of knowledge, but rather a lack of will.”
Vince Lombardi

We see so many successful people on TV, the internet, magazines and newspapers. People like Bill Gates, Mark Zuckerberg, Warren Buffett, J.K. Rowling, Oprah Winfrey, and Shania Twain.

We’ve heard their stories about how they overcame incredible odds to get to where they are now. We are all in awe because of what they’ve accomplished. So, what’s to say that you can’t do what they did in order to succeed?

You may not have the same circumstances but chances are you are in a better situation right now than – say – Oprah. She was not only poor but also an African American living in Mississippi, still one of the most racist states in the U.S. today. If she can do it, so can you.

  • Don’t be afraid of failure  – Successful people are not afraid of failure.By the time J.K. Rowling had written three chapters of Harry Potter, she was divorced, jobless and was a single mother. She survived by signing up for welfare benefits. She was diagnosed with clinical depression at the time and even contemplated suicide but became determined to succeed in writing. She said, “Had I really succeeded at anything else, I might never have found the determination to succeed in the one area where I truly belonged. I was set free, because my greatest fear had been realised, and I was still alive, and I still had a daughter whom I adored, and I had an old typewriter, and a big idea. And so rock bottom became a solid foundation on which I rebuilt my life.”
  • Be persistent no matter how hard circumstances may be – So many people have proven that persistence really pays off. One such person is Shania Twain.

Shania Twain had a hard life growing up. At eight years old she was already singing in bars to help make ends meet. Although she “hated going into bars and being with drunks,” she survived because she loved music. As a teenager, people started noticing her and she was able to secure a variety of gigs. However, in 1987, she had to take care of her four younger siblings after her mother and stepfather were killed in a car accident. She supported her siblings by performing at a resort near their home. After her siblings moved out on their own, Shania created a demo tape of her songs and presented it to record executives. By 1997, her album “Come On Over” became the best-selling studio album of all time by a female act in any genre and the best-selling country album of all time, selling over 40 million copies worldwide.”

Just keep going. You never know when you will get a break.

  • Never stop learning – Learning should not stop in school. No matter what your age, occupation or status in life, don’t be afraid to ask questions. So many people have decided to stop learning because they think that they have everything figured out or because they’re comfortable with what they have. Most of the time these are the same people who will tell you that some things can’t or shouldn’t be done – and that’s the end of it.

If you want to succeed in life, don’t listen to them. Do not be discouraged by them and do not become one of them. If you have a goal, go for it! You can overcome any obstacle with the right amount of hard work and a bit of luck.
