Pay Per Click 101 – Part 5 – Getting Better At PPC Marketing Day By Day

Congratulations! You’ve done a trial test on some advertisements to find out which combination of words work best, you’ve understood the metrics to pick the best advertisements for your website and you’ve confirmed it is driving actual sales on your website, rather than just traffic.

What’s next? Sit back, relax and let Google Adwords management do the rest?

No!

Google estimates that 20% of searches performed are completely new keyword phrases hardly ever used in the prior few months. This means that every month, there are new opportunities for you to seize to drive more traffic to your website.

It also means that just because an advertisement worked yesterday, doesn’t mean it will work today. And very likely it won’t work in the future.

Pay per click advertising campaigns need constant love and attention. You need to be logging on every day, or at least every other day, to monitor the progress and ad spend and ensure that your content is still relevant. Here are three other things you need to do to ensure you stay ahead of the pack.

  • Ask Your Customers
Constantly be on the lookout for feedback about the relevance of your PPC advertising from customers. If you don’t have direct contact with any of them right now, ask a few friends to act as customers and watch them walk through the process of trying to find your product. Ask them to say which advertisements they looked at first and why they would choose the advertisement they decide to click on. This step is vital and yet so many websites are too afraid to ask people for proper feedback.
  • Keep Testing
Set aside a bit of budget to test new ideas. The key to success is creativity and if you’re always reducing your advertisements to those bits that do seem to work, you’ll never discover a completely different way of doing it that could net you far greater results. Don’t be afraid to spend a little money in ‘R&D’ – all the great companies do!
  • Know When It’s Not Working
If you’ve spent a few thousand dollars and are still not getting results, it’s probably time to call in expert pay per click services. Just like regular advertising, getting a pay per click marketing campaign right is as much of an art as a science and the knowledge of what to do can take years of experience to develop. Before you throw in the towel and decide it’s not working, speak to a reputable pay per click company like Complete Cloud to discuss what opportunities you may have been missing.
