What characters can I use in my domain name?

You can use up to 63 characters in your domain name excluding the www or http:// prefix and the .com suffix. You can advertise your domain name in upper or lower case as domains are not case sensitive. Below is the domain character criteria;

  • any letter i.e. abcd.com.au
  • any number i.e. 247.com.au
  • a hyphen (-) i.e. hyphen-name.com.au
  • domains cannot start or end in a hyphen or have two hyphens consecutively
  • a combination of numbers, letters and hyphens
  • spaces and special characters (such as !, $, etc.) cannot be used
