The Key to a Successful Relationship or Happy Marriage

Are you spending a little too much time in the office and getting too exhausted for your relationship when you get home. Below are some tips to help you enrich any relationship.

Give your 100 percent

Being in a marriage or committed relationship is about commitment and about giving your 100 percent. Remember the biggest gift you can give someone is your time. Remember what qualities attracted you to your partner. Consider your partner’s needs and spend quality time with each other, spend time doing what your partner loves doing. Love is all about giving and when you and your partner give each other 100% you will have a bond that can cope up with anything in life.

Respect each other

Do you show care and concern to your partner? Or do you take your spouse for granted? It’s important to be patient and respectful towards each other. Do you value your partner’s opinion and take each other’s consent before taking important decisions? You can honour your partner everyday simply by listening to his/her view point carefully, talking courteously and expressing gratitude for all they do for you. If you have been harsh or abusive towards your spouse, learn to apologise. A sincere “sorry” goes a long way in healing wounds and nurturing the relationship.

Patience & effective communication

Effective communication is the key to success in any relationship including marriage. Lend your ear and complete attention to what your spouse has to say. Before you speak anything serious, think about what you want to say and the message you want to convey. This will help you achieve your goal and communicate your view clearly. Remember you need not devote hours, even a few minutes of quality time and in effective communication without distraction each day along with genuine concern for each other can help strengthen your relationship.

Refrain from constant criticism and nagging

Stop criticising and finding faults of your partner. Constant criticism and nagging brings bitterness into a relationship. Your partner may lack perfection but rather than trying to reform your partner or nagging constantly, try overlooking faults and finding positive qualities. The success of a relationship lies in being the right partner rather than finding the right partner. Try being selfless with your spouse and think about their needs rather than what annoys you about them. Don’t take your partner and their positive qualities for granted.

Compromise

A successful relationship includes some give and take. Everyone thinks differently and operates differently. Rather than focusing on who is right or wrong, compromise and give over to your partner sometimes even if you think you are right. That doesn’t mean you shouldn’t stand up for what you believe in but you can’t always be right either.

With mutual respect, effective communication and compromise you have the key ingredients to a successful relationship. Now it is the time to put these elements into place with constant practice.
